Welcome to the newly revised Kobuk River Trails website.

As of this writing our rag-tag group of current and (mostly) former Alaskans has met ten times over the years, beginning in 2006*. We met every other year up until the 2019-2021 COVID pandemic, during which it was wisely agreed to forego having a reunion in 2020. So our first reunion after 2018 was in 2022.

The seven reunions held from 2006 through 2018 all took place in the beautiful hills near Woodacre, CA, hosted by Bob and Dorene Schiro and family on the grounds of their lovely home. When we started up again in 2022, after a long, anxious wait, it was time to give the Schiros a break. A new venue was found in Fort Worden in Port Townsend, WA, which is where the 2022 and 2024 editions were held. We decided to go rogue and not skip a year in between, so the Fort Worden facility was engaged for a 2025 reunion.

However, it was not to be. The Fort Worden facility suddenly ended all operations in early 2025, rendering our reservations worthless. The quick work of Anna Plager and Dorene Schiro (and probably a few others) discovered and secured a suitable venue. Anderson Lodge is located about 10 miles as the crow flies southwest of the volcanic crater of Mount St. Helens! The Lodge served us very well during the 2025 edition of the Alaska Reunion which was held July 18-21, 2025.

Below please find group images from all previous reunions, except for the 2010 edition which is playing hard-to-find (NOTE: If you happen to have a copy of the 2010 group photo and can put your hand … uh, that is, your cursor… on it, please email a full-size copy of it to kobukrivertrails@gmail.com). Now, for the best part: Hundreds of images from all the previous gatherings, hosted on Google Photos. These candid shots have been supplied by various individuals (credit given where possible) from their personal collections taken at the reunions. Links will open the Google Photos album in a new window. While in the album, click on any photo to see it full-size.
